"while other people get four-hundred-dollar haircuts..."

Kudos to you if you recognized the quote. Its from Maximum Ride (I'm kind of a fanatic). And, I'm sorry to say, that truer words were never spoke (figure of speech, but shouldn't it really be spoken?). Am I the only one who's a little sickened? That showed up on Yahoo news today (yes, being the tech-savvy person that I am, I have e-mail, and it gives me news) and I was kinda-semi frightened. Honestly, $750 for a haircut? For a teenage boy? Really? Couldn't he have put the money toward something worth while, like ending world hunger? Or humane societies?

I really hope he's not a role model for too many people *rolls eyes*.

I mean, okay. I'm not going to go full Maximum Ride and cut my hair with a knife (I'd at least use scissors *smirks, and leaves you to wonder if I've ever cut my own hair*).

Well. Thats about it for my venting, I suppose. For now. But fear my wrath if I ever find out that anyone spent $1000 on a hair cut. I might just loose it. (Like, you know, loose it more than I have already).

Well that's just depressing

And- surprise!- our fault.

More dead birds. They actually killed the birds. Because they were eating and pooping on the cattle feed. Um, couldn't they, you know, keep the feed in a room that the birds can't get into? Because, here's the thing, birds are going to eat. They're going to poop. That's what they do. But there's a reason they invented locks, doors and shutters. To keep stuff out (i.e. birds).

What they did is hideous. If you can't figure out a non-harmful way to stop the birds, you're obviously not thinking hard enough.

Even if I weren't Vegetarian, and an Animal Rights Activist...

This would gross me out. Hmmm.... and why am I vegetarian again? Besides the fact that I find meat unethical, I avoid this.

I just want to save you from eating this stuff. Go with grain fed people. Think free run! If you're going to eat meat, don't buy factory farmed stuff, full of preservatives and growth hormones and who knows what else! And for goodness sake, don't eat anything that contains anything that could be used in Silly Putty.

Not to mention the fact that the meat at McDonald's isn't all that ethical. Warning! This link is somewhat disturbing. I can't even watch the videos.

Think twice about your food. Please. I'm not saying we all need to become vegan or anything, but we can all do a little.

Well, I've Done Something Useful

At my stable we're hoping to buy a horse from a slaughterhouse. Eventually. But since its only pocket change, it going to take a couple of years.

We're also going to buy kitten food from the humane society.

Not much, but its a start, right?

Over and out-
Katie

P.S. Look at you local humane society's website. Find out it they need anything, and get together with you friends and see if you can raise some money to buy it.

P.P.S. If you read my blog for the quirky stuff, check out the other blog that I post on here, though I'm not sure why anyone would want to hear more from me.

Reasons I haven't Posted

1) Back to school= Katie is crushed beneath large quantities of math homework
2)Crunch time at aforementioned school= Multiple Essays, summatives and exam review sheets
3)Haven't done anything useful to save the world (sigh. I'm working on it folks, I really am!)

But here's something! Its one of my favourite groups! Awesomeness! (Wow. I sound like such a girly- girl. Blech.)

Owed to Miss RMI

"Sorry, I feel like I am just spamming right now BUT, why don't WE - as in we your readers - plan to do something to raise awareness about a specific issue *cough* animal rights *cough*. We discuss them too often but rarely take action, I mean we DO take action... but not BIG action... I think it is an idea, and once we have it set you could document out all process on your blog, it could be the its-time-to-stand-up-blog-because-nobody- our-age-is blog :) I can't help but feel so helpless... I don't like that feeling."

She posted this comment. And I totally agree with her. I've been dead useless the past three weeks. *Whacks head off table as punishment* Anyway. Let's brainstorm shall we. I'm doing a twenty-day-food-challenge thing. Let's do a one-year-to-change-the-world thing.I'm probably going to start with animal rights, because that's how I roll. Anyone with me? Any other ideas? Tell me!
