Begin mental preparation (and start actual physical preparation)

I'm starting to prepare for my twenty day Challenge. This involved getting rid of anything containing chocolate or sugar (eating it) (kidding) (sort of). I also have to make vegetable broth, from scratch, so I can make soups, rices etc.

So, I know I've started a poll for this, but I'd love your support/scorn/opinions. Feel free to comment and tell me what you think.

Wow...

I'm looking at pictures, because I didn't see it.Stupid cloudy night! Gah. Ah well maybe next time (in, like, four hundred years, so actually, no hope, sigh).

Well. That's all folks.

Challenge

Obesity is an epidemic. I was reading in Discover Magazine (I'm a science nerd, okay?), and obesity has actually reached epidemic proportions. I'm not going to write down the stats, but you can read the article here.

Anyway, the point is: the human race is going down hill at an ever increasing speed. We're not just destroying our world, we're destroying our bodies too. We're putting all sorts of chemicals into our systems that probably shouldn't go in there.

I'm reading and awesome book right now, about a girl who stops eating processed food, walks wherever she can and stops using technology. All for the sake of a science experiment that she's doing on herself. She gives all of this up for about 200 days. That includes processed sugar, chocolate, pop and store bought bread.

I'm not that hard core. And apparently it takes a month to get your body clear of all the artificial sweeteners (i.e. aspartame). But I'm going to try this for twenty days, in a less extreme way.

Here's what I'm going to do:

1. From January 1- January 20, 2011 I am not going to eat anything containing:
  • Glucose-Fructose,  Aspartame, high Fructose Corn Syrup or Processed Sugar
  • Anything which contains more than three ingredients not recognizable as a food (i.e. calcium chloride, citric acid, ascorbic acid, sorbitol)
  • Any meat,or meat product (including gelatin, etc.) (no hardship there, since I'm vegetarian anyway)
  • Anything deep fried
  •  Packaged snacks, (i.e. potato chips, pretzels, rice cakes)
 2.  Make my own food wherever possible. I'm going to have to anyway, given requirement 1, since almost everything contains a forbidden ingredient, bread contains Glucose-Fructose, and chocolate contains processed sugar (no chocolate, I'm going to struggle with that).
3. Walk whenever/ wherever possible (home from school, to the library, etc.). Exceptions are: distance, time, temperature, weather conditions, safety, weight of backpack.
I'll update my blog daily to let you all know how it's going (all five of you). It would be great if you guys would do this with me, or any part of it.

Check out the book, my inspiration, here.

Super Sorry

I was forbidden computer access for the week... because I made my mother mad. Sorry. (And sorry, mom).

Anyhow, I'm back now. (Oh the excitement, right?)

Dreamer

Ever had a dream that you totally wonder where it came from?

So here's and article about 5 common ones: http://ca.news.yahoo.com/five-common-dreams-explained.html

I never have common dreams, and I only remember my nightmares. Last week I had a dream that I was at a beach along a river, and there were flesh eating mussels, and someone got caught by a riptide, and I couldn't remember what to do. I wonder what that means...

Get Out Your Christmas Lists, Activists!

Here's some stuff to jot down:
1. Activist Books

These all look amazing, though I have yet to read them...

2. Clothes

These are both from http://www.metowestyle.com/onlinestore_s/146.htm Don't they look comfy?

(The one for girls is pink, and I have been traumatized out of the colour.)

3. Jewelry
I love this. Its really expensive, though. http://www.metowe.com/shop/products/trade-bead-5-strand-collar-necklace-limited-edition

4. DVDs

Phenomenal movie.

So... that's about it. Feel free to comment with suggestions.

Tied Up

Not literally (obviously) and, actually not me. You see, for my "should I show pictures of my causes even if they are horrendously depressing?" poll, it's 50/50. How on earth am I supposed to decide if 50% say yes and 50% say no? I care about your opinions people! But you actually have to TELL me them, as I am not a telepath .

And, to tell you the truth, I wouldn't want to be telepathic. Would you really want to know what's going on in people's heads all the time? Because, to be honest, I really don't want to know.

Anyway. I know you have opinions (every living person does, and I don't think that I've had any zombies hit my blog) so tell me.
